Aircraft Description - Second Generation Prototype
The Stratos G2 prototype will be similar in appearance and function to the original prototype. A few refinements will be incorporated:
Slightly larger cockpit
Dual side stick controls
45hp Zenoah 2 cyl horizontally opposed power plant
Constant speed carbon-fiber prop
Fully instrumented glass cockpit
New lightweight (5.5 lbs including wiring) Primary Flight Display (PFD) and Multi-Function Display (MFD) systems allow for a complete instrumentation even in a small aircraft like the Stratos.
One other notable addition to the G2 will be the ability to rig the vehicle for operation as an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) allowing extensive test flight under remote control. The use of glass cockpit technology, with solid state sensors, will allow routing these signals to a remote operator for attitude, position, power and engine monitoring. A tie-in to the autopilot servos will allow remote operation of flight controls.
